HIT BY NEWS

An extensive catalogue called HIT BY NEWS accompanies the exhibition of the same name , which maps the influence of printed media on visual art and society from the beginning of the 20th century to the present. The curator Christoph Doswald prepared the exhibition using art works from rich collection of Annette and Peter Nobel. Exhibition presents over 450 collages, prints and photographs by more than 200 artists and reflects on how the media have shaped our idea of reality. The catalogue presents works by notable figures in the world of art, including Andy Warhol, Robert Rauschenberg, Gerhard Richter, Sigmar Polke and Barbara Kruger. In addition to the extensive text by the curator, catalogue brings an essay by Jean Baudrillard, which has not yet been published in Czech as well as reflections by the co-owner of the collection Peter Nobel and art historian Dorothea Strauss. It offers not only an overview of the exhibited works and their context, but also various perspectives on the relationship between art, media and the image of the contemporary world.
