The extensive Vanitas publication in contemporary Czech art reflects the exhibition of the same name, which presents the work of more than sixty contemporary artists. Although modern society has marginalized the awareness of death and dying and made them taboo, they have remained an important subject in artistic creation. The message of vanity represented by a still life with flowers or a skull clearly reflects the generality of its message and proves itself to be both timeless and supremely current. The publication includes an anthology of poems, to which a number of contemporary poets contributed, and theoretical reflections written by Jiřina Šiklová, Jiří Přibáň, Tomáš Hříbek and Tereza Matějčková. The graphic design of the book was created by Robert V. Novák.
