Kateřina Bečková's new book loosely follows on from the edition of Zmizelá Praha. It draws on the wealth of archival sources, which contain hundreds of previously unpublished illustrations, graphic sheets and drawings, and provides a comprehensive idea of the original appearance of the excursion sites behind the Prague walls.
Their visit was socially very significant for the people of Prague, especially in the first half of the 19th century. There were countless opportunities, whether it was Petřín or Šárka, the culturally modified nature on Kanálka, the Kinsky noble garden open to the public or the imperial Royal or Hvězda field, various vineyards, pleasure houses with refreshments, castles and aristocratic summer houses.
