Manop, last, first

Through selected, unique photographs and texts by Jaroslav Andel and Petr Wittlich, the publication introduces the reader to Barbora Šlapetová's exhibition project and Lukáš Rittstein's Manop, the latter the former, inspired by their repeated trips to West Papua and encounters with indigenous tribes living in the forest. In 2009, the exhibition at the DOX Center offered large-format photographs of Šlapetová, confronted with a series of sculptures by Rittstein called Les. The publication offers a look back at the project, photos and quotes from interviews with members of indigenous tribes, documenting their ideas about the Earth and the cosmos.

Released on the occasion of the Manop exhibition, the last, the first at the Center for Contemporary Art DOX (2009).
