Bright prospects

The extensive publication Promising Prospects reflects the exhibition of the same name, which in 2022 presented the work of a wide group of artists of various generations and artistic expressions. The motif of the child in contemporary Czech art was a free continuation of the so-called pandemic trilogy. After the theme of death, dying and transience, the last project was devoted to birth and the beginning of life. The varied spectrum of forms included painting (Josef Bolt), collages (Jana Vojnárová), sculptures (Matous Háša), installations (Kateřina Šedá) as well as videos (Mark Ther) and photographs (Ivan Pinkava).

The catalog returns to the exhibited works of almost four dozen artists, but at the same time brings a number of reflections on the perception of the theme of childhood by authors from various professional fields: Otto M. Urban, Bob Kartous, Hila Naot, Petra Hůlova, Petr Stančík and Jiří Raiterman.

The publication is supplemented with interesting, often funny, but also chilling statements of children, which were collected by the lecturers of the DOX Center's classes during the exhibition.
