Continuation of the successful series of guides, Modern Prague discusses the architecture of the second half of the 20th century in words and pictures, which, despite the totalitarian decades, is perhaps surprisingly varied.
Even the 1950s, associated with the official Sorella, created something interesting (e.g. the Yalta Hotel), in the 1960s, starting with the so-called Brussels style, our architects "returned to Europe" (the Federal Assembly building or the InterContinental Hotel were created), and among the standardization buildings we also find inspiring projects (e.g. department stores Máj and Kotva).
At the same time, a number of controversial buildings of the mentioned years cannot be overlooked. The free nineties also brought their controversies and embarrassing works, but the stylistically varied work brought extraordinary acts like the Dancing House. The book is again accompanied by clear maps, a glossary of technical terms and brief medallions of architects.
