Orhan Pamuk: Snow (CS)

The novel by the Turkish Nobel Prize winner for literature takes the reader to the provincial town of Kars, lost in the mountains of eastern Turkey and cut off from the world for several days by a blizzard. The main character, Ka, a poet and political exile, goes there to write a report on the mysterious suicides of Muslim girls, while also reuniting with the love of his youth. In Kars, it's as if we, along with Ka, were watching dramatic scenes from Turkey's past and present on a speed-up film strip, which are mixed with poetic images of snow.
