While in the first part (1978-1984) the little hero traveled with his family between Libya, Brittany and Syria, the second part is mainly about life in Syria. Riyad learns to read and write Arabic, discovers his Syrian family and new friends, and although he is still blond and spends a two-week holiday in Brittany, he wants to become the perfect Syrian.
